Sister Kathy Andrews and Sister Annie Woods (pictured left) have been recognised for their contribution to patient care at Hillcrest Private Hospital with the Discovery Excellence Awards in Nursing (DEAN) for 2016.
Sister Annie, who was ranked in the Top 10 nurses in SA in 2015, has helped many women in the Maternity Ward with her warm approach and wealth of knowledge. “I’m a vintage model,” she says with a smile. “I’ve gone wherever I’ve been needed, but ultimately it’s my four children who have taught me the most about caring for others.”
Sister Kathy works in the Short Stay Ward. “I love connecting with people and use humour to ease any tension they may be feeling.”
Both women trained at Grey’s Hospital in Pietermaritzburg and share a passion for helping people.
“We are proud to have Annie and Kathy as part of the team,” says Acting Nursing Manager Thiloshini Govender. “Their good attitude and passion rub off on our other staff, ensuring our patients receive the best care.”Tags: Hillcrest Private Hospital, nursing
