Open Day to Celebrate 54 Years of Caring at Malvern CYCC

The Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre will be hosting an Open Day to celebrate its 54th anniversary on Saturday 18 November. This will be a perfect opportunity to find out more about how you can get involved in helping make a difference to the lives of the 120 children placed in the care of the Home.

The Children’s Choir performance will be a highlight of the day, followed by an insightful ‘On The Couch’ discussion with interesting guest speakers who are actively involved with the children – such as volunteers, social workers and child care workers – to gain a better insight into what they do and why the Home needs the support of the community. The session will be concluded with a tour of the Home and its facilities.

“As one of the largest and most established Child and Youth Care Centre’s in Durban, our 54-year milestone in caring for orphaned and vulnerable children is a highlight that we want to recognise. This is also a valuable opportunity for us to raise awareness of our needs and child development programmes, as well as to celebrate our achievements by acknowledging the support of our donors and volunteers,” said Lee Jarrett, PR & Fundraising Manager.

Boerewors rolls, cold drinks and birthday cake will be on sale to help raise funds, as well as a raffle to win a 7-night vacation. A gift/donation of either dry groceries or toiletries to celebrate the Home’s 54th birthday will also be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you don’t miss out on any of the programme events by arriving on time for either the morning session from 10h30 to 12h00 or the afternoon session from 12h30 to 14h00. The Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre is situated at 11 Coniston Lane in Malvern. Secure parking will be provided.
