The St Mary’s DSG Kloof High School Choir have been crowned World Champions in the Scenic Folklore category at the 2018 World Choir Games. The choir also achieved a silver medal in the Scenic Pop category.
The repertoire chosen for the Scenic Folklore programme was reinterpreted traditional songs that tell a story about a girl who is lured into human trafficking through a trusted friend/boyfriend where trying to escape is often impossible; the audience was taken through an emotive and powerful journey of pain.
In total 16 000 singers in 300 amateur choirs from 60 countries took part in the 10th WCG in Tshwane, an incredible experience for the Saints girls – whose commitment, patience and teamwork have been inspiring. The choir dedicated their programme to the fight against human trafficking and modern-day slavery, and are grateful for the exposure this awareness brings to A21.choir, choir world champions, St Mary's DSG
