This Friday evening at King’s Park Stadium there’s a fantastic rugby treat in store. John Smit arrives to play his testimonial game with a bevy of rugby stars from all over the world, against his old team the Sharks.
When will you get a chance to watch John Smit, Victor Matfield, Percy Montgomery, BJ Botha, Dave Flatman from England, Jerome Thion from France, Simon Shaw and a host of others on the field again? The answer is of course, never! So if this is your generation of rugby boys, go and bid farewell to your Captain in true South African style.
The afterparty will be amazing and John Smit is using this game to launch the John Smit Foundation, supporting Bobbi Bear, LIV, and the Chris Burger and Petro Jackson Players Fund. This triumvirate of charities, the 111 Barney’s Army will be benefitting from the match.
Kickoff is at 7pm, with tickets for adults on sale for R50, scholars R15 and suite holders and season ticket holders going in free.
