Durban North singer Lize Heerman’s future looks particularly bright right now; on Tuesday she performed on Idols and also jets off for a series of shows in Monaco.
Lize, who finished a creditable eighth in last year’s Idols competition, performed on Tuesday’s Idols show, along with rockers Prime Circle. Lize sang her track Do You Love Me, which topped the East Coast Radio chart last year. She was in Joburg on Tuesday morning for rehearsals. “Live’s a bit hectic, you have to know where to look, when etc . . . it can all be a bit frantic,” she told The Ridge Online. Lize said she chose the song because the lyrics had personal meaning and she liked the idea of honesty, cutting to the chase and expressing your feelings.
The Mercury Arts editor Billy Suter reported that later in the week Lize jets out to Monaco to play a series of shows with last year’s Idols winner Jason Hartman. Although the details of the show have not been revealed yet, Lize said that the shows had been booked through Joburg based agent Wayne Ridden, a long-time friend of South African Charlene Wittstock, the former Olympic swimmer who is the fiancée of Monaco’s Prince Albert. Lize told The Ridge she has been asked to prepare about an hour’s set of music, across a range of musical styles, including jazz and pop standards. A meeting had been set up for Friday in Monaco to discuss the schedule.
While Lize has also kept busy recording Let’s Play excerpts for SuperSport, much more importantly she is currently recording her first album, which includes a duet with Hartman. “It’s self titled at the moment, but we’re still open to suggestions,” she said. The album will be produced by industry hot shots Brian O’Shea and Crighton Goodwell.Idols, Jason Hartman, Lize, Monaco
