There’s something for every bloke in issue 49 of The Ridge magazine, the highlight being our feature on must have toys for boys, jewellery and to-die-for gadgets. We had loads of fun putting this one together and it was really hard at the end of the day deciding what would make the final cut. One of the great things about being on The Ridge is that we have the ultimate in designer, hi-tech, exclusive and beautifully crafted merchandise and product.
Fashion – shot at the Mount Edgecombe Country Club (which is looking really fab after its recent revamp) – showcases the hottest in contemporary men’s suits . . . it’s sophisticated and elegant and, for the ladies, the models are extremely easy on the eye too . . . or so I’m told.

We catch up with some Sharks rugby stars, past and present. I’m not giving the game away here, but let’s just say that these guys were a pleasure to “scrum down” with and gave us some interesting insights into their lives as household names and sports stars living on the Ridge.
Harley Davidson has been turning heads in Umhlanga with the opening of its new store at the Coastlands building. You couldn’t have failed to notice the number of gleaming, muscular machines powering their way along Umhlanga Rocks Drive of late . . . Motor your way to our report on the Harley dealership and find out more, it’s well worth a visit.
Ladies, never fear, there’s also plenty for you to sink your teeth into in this issue: Dr Candice Roberts, of Alberlito Hospital in Ballito tells us of her long and ultimately rewarding journey to motherhood, plus you can “Ooh and Aah” over the celebrity home featured in this issue. I’m laying on the clichés rather heavily here, but it really is to die for. There’s art, books and social pages as always, and Pick n Pay brings us some fantastic soup recipes. Erica and John Platter excel, naturally, in describing the personalities and food trends making waves on The Ridge.
We always have a great time compiling this magazine, and now look ahead to our 50th issue. As befits the landmark half-century, this promises to be something to remember. Until then, enjoy – Garth Johnstone
